12-Year-Old Cornhole Prodigy Mychal Eaglefeathers Jr. Aims to Become a Cornhole Pro

The fifth American Cornhole League (ACL) of Montana regional contest was held at Triple Play Academy on Friday and Saturday.

“Most people think of cornhole as a backyard game,” said Eric Neuenschwander, who ran the event. “But what we do here is a bit more advanced.”

About 20 teams, with nearly 40 people, played in Saturday’s games.

“You need good rolling and throwing skills nowadays because these young kids are beating us older players,” said Greg Silvis. Last year, Greg spent over $18,000 on pro cornhole games, along with winning many games to qualify.

Greg’s partner was 12-year-old Mychal Eaglefeathers Jr.

“I’m not a pro yet, but I want to be,” said Eaglefeathers Jr. His dad, Mychal Eaglefeathers Sr., said it’s hard to pay for all the travel and lodging for these games.

“It’s tough to find sponsors. I’m just trying to get better so I can become a pro,” said Eaglefeathers Jr.

Eaglefeathers Sr. is helping his son’s dream come true. He loves playing with his son and watching him win against adults.

Eaglefeathers Jr. hopes to win a national contest when he’s older.

Montana Cornhole will host a fundraiser game on August 10 at Thomson Park. It costs $60 per team to join.

They also meet on Wednesdays and Fridays at The Stars ‘n’ Stripes Lounge and Casino. Everyone is welcome. It costs $10 to play, but your first time is free.
